I know it’s Easter….BUT

6 Apr

Since I just started this blog, oh an hour or so, I realized that I HAD to post my Anthro-Inspired Christmas tree skirt.  I know, we are dying Easter eggs, but if you are nothing like me, you are more than likely planning Christmas already.  So here is my little gem I whipped up out of a random queen sized flat bed sheet.

As I was not counting on writing a blog, and the idea literally popped in my head, I will try my hardest to explain how I did this.

1.) I laid the bedsheet flat on the floor.  Luckily for me, the area where the tree goes was marked with folds so I knew the most middle section was located.

2.)  There were also folds evenly throughout the sheet that made little squares.  With that guideline, I took a 6 inch plate, placed it in the middle of a square, and traced it.  I then took a large needle and matching thread and made large bastes around the circle.

3.)  I pulled the middle of the circle up and tightened the thread so the base was gathered and I had a point.

4.)  I wrapped the point into a bun/knot type thing and sewed it down/together.

5.)  And repeat!.

6.)  By the time I finished, the edges were almost perfectly scalloped!  For a clearer understanding of how to make these knots, please see kojotutorial’s blog {I got it from her, she rocks!}

Happy Easter!  I am sure I will post something Easter related around Christmas time!  🙂
